Katherine Kocisky
Katherine graduated with a degree in English Education and French in 2004 from Illinois State University. Since then, she has taught high school English and French in the United States. Having quickly developed itchy feet, Katherine flew to Europe to teach English while traveling extensively.
In 2005, she completed a Cambridge CELTA course in Budapest which gave her both creative and useful ideas to teach English to non-native speakers. In no time, she fell in love with Hungary and didn't leave for two years. While there, Katherine taught conversational English to children and teenagers at both primary and secondary schools in Budapest and Szerencs, small town in northeastern Hungary.
In 2007 Katherine moved to Valladolid, Spain to teach children, teenagers preparing for English exams, and adults at a language school. While there, she completed a course on teaching ESL to Young Learners and obtained many fun activities and lessons. In 2008, Katherine journeyed north, crossing the French border to Chasse sur Rhone, a small town near Lyon, where she taught beginning English to 7-12 year olds in a primary school.
Currently, Katherine works with the Center for Cultural Interchange, a non-profit organization sponsored by the Department of State in Chicago where she helps foreign university students come to the United States to work temporarily during their school breaks.
When not working, Katherine enjoys traveling whenever possible and writing about it. She enjoys blogging, hiking, being outdoors, yoga, reading, photography, discovering new music and vegetarian cooking.
